Steve H. J. Zargo, the former Commissioner-General of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), has indeed confirmed that his suspension was related to a 'Ne Exeat Republica' order, which aligns with the case against former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah7. While Zargo has not explicitly stated he was suspended for not arresting Tweah, he has provided clues that support this interpretation.

Zargo stated, "If the timing of the communication that informed my suspension is anything to go by, then it should border around the ne exit republica. Nothing more, nothing less"7. He further explained that the ne exeat republica is a court order prohibiting a person from leaving the republic and emphasized that "no one left the republic"7.

However, sources close to him confided in this Media house that Zargo was indeed mandated to arrest Tweah at the Airport, handcuff him for political stunt and project the "Rescue" government as fighting corruption. Zargo did not honor that mandate for fear of its illegality, but this was a political goal that the regime really wished to have scored despite the ramifications. Hence his suspension.

The Ne EXEAT Republica was issued after Tweah was already in country and turned himself in to the court5. Fear that there was no sufficient evidence, hence the NE EXEAT REPUBLICA and other delay tactics from the regime since the case is mostly political than LEGAL.

With the hope of still being reappointed, Zargo appears to be circumspect in directly confirming this reason for his suspension. He maintains that his suspension letter cites "the judgment in the mind of the chief executive that I didn't mean well based on information he had gathered"7. This careful wording suggests he is avoiding explicitly stating that he was suspended for not arresting Tweah.

While Zargo continues to be diplomatic in his statements, the available information strongly suggests that his suspension was indeed connected to his handling of the mandate from the President's circle have former Finance Minister Tweah arrested upon entry at the Robert International Airport.
