BASILEIA Industrial University, led by J. Railey Gompa—former journalist and Deputy Minister of State under President Doe—is set to assume control of PYJ University in Ganta, Nimba County.
The planned sale comes as the family of the late Prince Yormie Johnson, whose legacy the institution represents, cites an inability to sustain operations. Sources say while the previous CDC government provided occasional support, the current administration has shown little interest in intervening.
Upon finalization, BASILEIA will take full ownership and management, a step some call best way to preserving the university’s academic future.
Divisions have emerged within the Johnson family. Prince Johnson’s children—Angel Amy, Terry Johnson among others —are said to be at odds with Mrs. Ameria Boyidee Johnson over the decision. Some sources in Ganta suggest political figures, including Vice President Koung and Senator Kogar, may have influenced the process.
As the handover proceeds, the central question persists: who is guiding PYJ’s widow as she decides whether to part with her husband’s legacy?
