Olympique Marseille have agreed a deal to sign United States international Timothy Weah from Juventus, with the winger set to join in a move worth up to €18 million.
The 25-year-old will first join on loan for the 2025/26 season for €1 million, before Marseille are obliged to make the move permanent next summer for €14 million. Performance add-ons could bring the total fee to €18 million, while Juventus have secured a sell-on clause in the agreement.
The transfer, which was hammered out in overnight talks involving Marseille president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Mehdi Benatia, sees Weah become the latest key arrival as OM look to strengthen under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Weah was reportedly determined to join the Ligue 1 club, rejecting Premier League side Nottingham Forest to return to France, where he previously starred for PSG and Lille. “He only wanted the Marseille project,” insiders said, with the American drawn by De Zerbi’s vision and the club’s Champions League ambitions.
The deal also sees Weah follow in the footsteps of his father, Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, who played for Marseille in the 2000/01 season. The younger Weah will now aim to make his own mark at the Orange Velodrome as OM step up preparations for the new campaign.
Weah’s arrival takes Marseille’s summer recruitment drive into double figures, as the club look to challenge for silverware both at home and in Europe next season.
